CW: mild spoilers for character death, and my interpretation of what things look like in the Labyrinth, so entirely not canon. It was cathartic though.
Light burned at her eyes in the dark. The silence overloaded her ears. She took her time, knowing that it was only her Virtue that mattered. Not time, not money, not fame and recognition. There was no name to this body, now, anyway. Names didn't matter.
As she moved, she sang, calling back to those who followed. She sang songs of a land that felt like home, and another that felt of belonging despite otherness.
And after a while a voice joined in. It wasn't a voice of perfection, but it was strong and robust, a voice calling, ringing through the silence.
She waited for it to catch up. This voice... was a friend. A comrade. No names any more, but who needs names?
A man comes through the light, into the shadow.
"Oh. Hello. This is unexpected. How did it happen?"
"I don't remember. Druj, I think."
"That fits. Grendel for me."
There was a pause, stretching comfortably into the instant.
"Shall we, then?"
And they stepped into nothing and were gone.
